Thank you for visiting my website dedicated to my artistic practice. My name is Skylar Gerken and I am a visual artist and art educator based out of Queens, NYC.

I have been an active professional artist for over a decade, exhibiting my artwork nationally and internationally. My speciality is narrative based drawings, but I like to think of myself as an expansive artist that works with a multitude of media.

In 2018 I began formally pursing art education.Since then, I have taught artmaking in K-12 classrooms along with mentoring on college level, hosted art related workshops and manage art activities at a seasonal summer camp. My personal teaching philosophy is to provide a space for learners, of any age, to utilize art as an entry way into curiosity and personal expression. I consider artmaking to be a mystical portal to the soul.
